PETALING JAYA:
A Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) leader has downplayed a call made by a colleague calling for an alliance with Warisan.

The call was made in a Facebook post that has gone viral.

Petagas PBS deputy chief Ng Tze Tsai clarified that division chief Azmi Ahmad’s Facebook post dated Sept 22, which wrote: “Kasi jadi lah ba, PBS STAR + Warisan”, was his personal opinion and did not reflect the views of the division or the party’s stance.

“Any confusion or inconvenience caused by this matter is deeply regretted,” he said in a statement today.

“The Petagas PBS division reaffirms its commitment to supporting Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) under the leadership of chief minister Hajiji Noor.”

PBS and Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) are component parties of GRS, which currently holds a majority in the Sabah state assembly.

GRS and Pakatan Harapan (PH) are currently part of the Sabah government.

While GRS aims to maintain its partnership with PH in the upcoming state election, Warisan has been considering alliances with other parties, including Umno.

Warisan president Shafie Apdal has indicated the party’s openness to collaborating with Umno, though no formal alliance has been established yet.
