PETALING JAYA:
A TikTok influencer and entrepreneur has been slapped with a RM3,000 fine after pleading guilty to rash driving by “drifting” on a highway.

Faris Azri Hanif, 25, made the plea after the charge was read to him before Balik Pulau magistrate Chia Huey Ting, Harian Metro reported.

The father of two, who is known online simply as Choii, faces a month in prison if he fails to pay the fine.

He was charged with driving a vehicle in a rash or negligent manner that endangered others on the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway in Bayan Lepas, Penang, at 3.45am on Sept 28.

The charge was framed under Section 279 of the Penal Code, which provides for up to six months’ jail or a maximum RM2,000 fine upon conviction.

Faris was arrested and remanded for two days after drifting on the highway with his Mazda Roadster.

Drifting is a driving technique where the driver slides the car through a corner or a turn, often with the front wheels pointing in the opposite direction to the turn.
