PETALING JAYA:
Eight non-Muslim parents have obtained an interim court order compelling preacher Firdaus Wong to remove a TikTok video allegedly promoting secret underage conversions.

The order, granted by the Kuala Lumpur High Court on an ex parte basis in Firdaus’s absence, was made to preserve the status quo between the parties in an ongoing lawsuit, the parents’ lawyer, M Visvanathan, said.

He told FMT the order was issued by Justice Amarjeet Singh this morning.

“The plaintiffs will now serve a copy of the order on Firdaus.

“The court has set Oct 17 for an inter partes hearing,” he said, adding that Firdaus will have the opportunity to contest the injunction when the matter comes up for hearing then.

In June, Firdaus posted a video of him allegedly giving a man instructions on how to handle requests from minors wishing to convert secretly to Islam.

In the same month, lawyers Rajesh Nagarajan and Sachpreetraj Singh said the video also contained advice as to how children can hide their conversion from their parents and pray in secret.

They said numerous police reports were lodged against Firdaus after the video made its rounds on social media, including one lodged by their client, Arun Dorasamy.

“We are pleased to inform the public that the police have finally opened an investigation paper against Firdaus under Section 505(c) of the Penal Code,” they added in a joint statement.
