PETALING JAYA:
Police have solved the mystery of the disappearance of former Felcra official Sabari Baharom, 62, after two men confessed to killing Sabari and throwing his body into a river.

Kedah police chief Fisol Salleh said the two suspects, aged 26 and 38, were arrested last Friday. They said they had bound Sabari’s hands and gagged him before throwing him into Sungai Padang Terap in Jitra.

“The victim’s body has not been found yet. Efforts to locate the body are continuing,” he said. Fisol said the victim’s family had been informed about the progress of the investigation.

Sabari went missing in Baling, Kedah, on Sept 4 after leaving his home in a Proton Waja. His family realised only the next day that he was missing, after they could not reach his mobile phone.

Several ATM withdrawals from one of his bank accounts were detected, and the person who made the withdrawal was later identified from security camera footage.

Sabari’s car was later found burnt in Belantik, Sik.
