PETALING JAYA:
A man from Kuala Lumpur was fined RM10,000, or three months’ jail, in Kuching today after he pleaded guilty to engaging in online gambling.

Nur Adha Murad, 33, was charged with having dealt with a gambling machine, an offence which carries a fine of between RM10,000 and RM100,000 for each gambling machine seized, and jail of not more than five years.

Nur Adha pleaded guilty before magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali, the Borneo Post reported.

The prosecution said Nur Adha was arrested when police raided an eatery in Jalan Semarak in Kuching at about 1.45pm on Wednesday and seized RM100 and a mobile phone which an expert later confirmed was used as a gambling machine.

Nur Adha was unrepresented while Arman Ibrahim prosecuted the case.
