PETALING JAYA:
Heads of government departments and agencies have been warned that action would be taken against them if they fail to rotate their staff from October.

The public service department (JPA) said the rotation of personnel was part of an initiative to reform the civil service as it would prevent leakages, abuse of power and corruption.

“Failure to do so would be considered dereliction of duty and irresponsible,” it said in a statement, adding that the department heads could have disciplinary action taken against them.

JPA also said the department heads are to identify the personnel to be transferred.

Earlier this month, Putrajaya announced 12 changes in postings and new appointments for senior government officials as it intensified efforts to reform the civil service.

The changes follow Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s announcement that large-scale reforms involving government departments and agencies will be carried out from this month.
