PETALING JAYA:
Sabah chief minister Hajiji Noor has again hinted that the next state assembly elections could be held before the legislature term ends in September next year.

Hajiji said if he felt the elections should be called earlier, “then it will be earlier”, The Borneo post reported.

“Therefore, we need to be prepared from now,” said Hajiji, who is president of Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah, after opening the annual meeting of the party’s Pitas division.

He said the next elections will be held by October next year at the latest.

In November last year, Hajiji hinted at the possibility of the next state assembly elections being held as early as this year.

At the last state assembly elections in 2020, Hajiji’s Gabungan Rakyat Sabah coalition won 38 seats.
