SHAH ALAM:
The Selangor mufti is expected to make a decision on Sept 30 regarding the controversial company Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISBH) a week after a report on the company is presented to the Selangor Islamic religious council.

Council chairman Abdul Aziz Yusof said the Selangor religious department will present the report on Sept 24.

Aziz said religious officials and the police are taking coordinated action against GISBH and its network, including ensuring that Islamic schools involved are closed and their registrations revoked.

“This coordinated action is aimed at enabling the Selangor fatwa committee to make a prompt decision based on their research and checks on GISBH,” he said in a statement today.

Yesterday, the sultan of Selangor expressed his disappointment regarding the issues surrounding GISBH, which is at the centre of allegations of deviant Islamic teachings, child abuse and neglect, and human trafficking.

The sultan ordered the immediate closure of all charitable homes and Islamic schools under GISBH and its network, which are unregistered or suspected of involvement in criminal activities.
