ALOR SETAR:
Ferry operations at the Kuala Kedah passenger terminal to Langkawi have resumed.

The service was temporarily suspended from Thursday following warnings of strong winds and rough seas.

Konsortium Ferrylines Ventures Sdn Bhd general manager Baharin Baharom said four ferry trips from Kuala Kedah to Langkawi and five trips from Langkawi to Kuala Kedah were scheduled for today.

He said the ferry service and the roll-on/roll-off (Roro) ferry will be moved to the Kuala Perlis passenger terminal if bad weather forces a stop to ferry services at the Kuala Kedah passenger terminal.

Baharin said the cancellation of the ferry service saw more than 6,000 passengers request a refund. Another 5,000 opted to travel from Kuala Perlis.

He said the company had refunded more than RM130,000 to the affected passengers.

“Our consortium had been badly affected by these cancellations.

“We have been operating 24 hours a day to make sure the affected passengers get their refunds quickly.”
