PETALING JAYA:
A new initiative to empower and strengthen the Indian community will soon be announced, said R Ramanan, deputy minister for entrepreneur development and cooperatives.

He said a meeting is scheduled for next week to discuss important matters before making the official announcement.

Ramanan, who is Sungai Buloh MP, said the new initiative is in addition to three special initiatives introduced in the past four months. “I have identified another compelling initiative that can greatly assist Indian entrepreneurs in boosting their economic prospects,” he said.

The three previous initiatives include an empowerment financing scheme through Tekun Nasional, with an allocation of RM30 million; a women’s empowerment scheme under Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia with a RM50 million allocation; and a Bank Rakyat Indian entrepreneur financing scheme with a RM50 million allocation.
