PETALING JAYA:
PAS has denied suspending a Perlis chapter leader who criticised other party leaders at its recent muktamar for shaking hands with women and taking part in karaoke sessions.

PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said a viral statement claiming that Perlis PAS information chief Saifizi Saidon had been suspended was fake, Bernama reported.

However, he hinted that Saifizi may face disciplinary action.

“It’s false, no disciplinary action has been taken on Saifizi, although the matter is under the party’s observation,” Takiyuddin was quoted as saying.

During the muktamar last week, Saifizi said PAS seemed to have drifted away from its principles, noting that past members had been suspended from the party simply for dancing.

He also raised concerns about the lack of communication regarding issues involving Perlis menteri besar Shukri Ramli. He said Perlis PAS had not received any formal report from either the state liaison body or PAS headquarters.

Shukri is also the Perlis PAS chief.

A “media statement” that went viral earlier claimed that PAS’s disciplinary board decided to suspend Saifizi over his statements at the muktamar.
