Man linked to GISBH charged with criminal intimidation

The accused could face imprisonment for up to two years, or a fine, or both upon conviction.

The accused, Riza Makar, was charged with criminal intimidation at the magistrates’ court in Putrajaya today.
PUTRAJAYA:
A man linked to Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISBH) has been charged in the magistrates’ court here with threatening a woman to withdraw a police report she made against the company.

Riza Makar, 39, pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him before magistrate Ahmad Afiq Hasan this morning.

The charge was framed under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation, punishable with imprisonment for up to two years, or a fine, or both, upon conviction.

Riza is accused of threatening Siti Nur Dalila Diyana Ismail, 25, at the car park of the Galeria retail complex in Presint 4, Putrajaya, at about 10pm on Sept 9.

He allegedly told her “we know where you live, (with) your husband and family”.

Deputy public prosecutor Sabri Othman, who had linked the accused to GISBH, requested for bail to be set at RM30,000 in one surety.

Sabri also requested the court to order Riza to surrender his passport and report to a police station once a month pending the conclusion of the case.

Defence lawyer Zufikri Ulul Azmin asked for a lower bail, saying Riza has three wives and 10 children.

Zufikri also said his client is self-employed and only earns a monthly income of RM4,000.

The court set bail at RM10,000 in one surety and ordered Riza to surrender his passport and report to a nearby police station once a month.

It also fixed Oct 18 for re-mention of the case.
