KUALA LUMPUR:
The police have widened the scope of their investigation into the raided welfare homes to include their funders and donors, says Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain.

The IGP said investigations have shown that the welfare homes allegedly linked to Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISBH) also received sponsorship from organisations other than GISBH.

“GISBH also operates old folks’ homes, which have received funds from other parties too,” he said at a press conference held at the police training centre (Pulapol) here.

Razarudin urged former members of the company and past victims to step forward to facilitate the police investigation.

On Wednesday, the police raided 20 welfare homes in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan allegedly linked to GISBH, and rescued 402 children who are believed to be victims of physical abuse, sexual abuse and abandonment.

Razarudin today said 13 of the victims are suspected to have been sodomised.

He said most of them have sustained both new and old wounds and are now undergoing medical check-ups at the Pulapol.
