ALOR GAJAH: Police have confirmed that an eight-month-old baby boy who died at a childcare centre yesterday had been suffocated.
Alor Gajah district police chief Ashari Abu Samah said a post-mortem report of the victim yesterday showed no other injuries on the body.
A babysitter was placed on remand by the magistrate’s court today to assist in a murder investigation into the baby’s death.
The baby’s father, Fikry Amri Abdul Halim, 39, had said yesterday that the baby was smothered with a pillow by a babysitter, based on the CCTV footage at the childcare centre.
Fikry said his wife had to rush their baby to hospital after being informed that he had been found unconscious, bleeding from the mouth and bluish in the face.
