Sungai Udang assemblyman Dr Aleef Yusof said he did not make the allegation in his TikTok video but was merely urging Melaka chief minister Ab Rauf Yusoh to respond to the claim.
“In the video, I also asked the chief minister to explain whether it’s true that policemen (deployed at the Melaka Tengah headquarters) were ordered to move to a building that was unsafe and uncertified.
“I do not have to remove the video, nor do I have to apologise to anyone. If the Asahan assemblyman (Fairul Nizam Roslan) wants to sue me for his misinterpretation of what I had said, go ahead,” the Bersatu man said in another TikTok video.
Earlier, Fairul had urged Aleef to take down the video within seven days and apologise to Rauf and the state government over its content.
The Melaka executive councillor said as an elected representative, Aleef should have solid evidence before spreading allegations online.
Whistleblower Edisi Siasat had first published the claim, purportedly from personnel posted at the Melaka Tengah police headquarters, on Telegram.
The same day, Rauf said the state government had proposed moving the police headquarters to address space constraints as the existing building in Banda Hilir was constructed in 1924 and could only accommodate six divisions.
The chief minister also said the proposal to build a new district police headquarters was included in the 12th Malaysia Plan’s fifth rolling plan. He said it would cost RM250 million and would be built on a 4.94ha piece of land in Krubong.
Aleef then urged Rauf to answer whether the allegations were true or false.
He also said Krubong, about 14km from the city centre, was not a strategic location for the Melaka Tengah police headquarters.
He said the police headquarters should remain in the heart of the city.
