Johor PAS chief Abdullah Husin said the chapter will not lodge an appeal or boycott the Sept 28 by-election despite initially submitting six names for consideration by PN’s central leadership.
“From the start, we’ve said the final decision lies in the hands of the central leadership.
“They took various factors into account when reaching the decision (to field a candidate from Bersatu), and we’ve accepted it.
“We will help the PN candidate in the by-election,” Abdullah, who is also the deputy Johor PN chairman, told FMT.
Yesterday, PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said PN had decided that Bersatu would contest the Mahkota by-election.
For Barisan Nasional, Kluang Umno Youth chief Syed Hussein Syed Abdullah is among those rumoured to be considered as the unity government’s candidate.
Two other candidates being mentioned for BN are Kluang Umno Wanita deputy chief Zainani Jamaluddin and Kluang Umno chief Jais Sarday, who held the seat for two terms.
The Sept 28 by-election was called following the death of assemblyman Sharifah Azizah Syed Zain of Umno on Aug 2.
