Sanusi said their marriage was conducted in accordance with all customs and regulations, Sinar Harian reported.
He also denied social media claims that his new wife was a member of the team investigating the theft of rare earth elements in Bukit Enggang, Sik.
In fact, he said he met her when she was investigating an arson attack on a vacant container at the menteri besar’s official residence, Seri Mentaloon, in 2022.
It was previously claimed on social media that Sanusi had taken a woman in her 40s as his second wife.
Sanusi said he decided to clear the air over his second marriage to a single mother after speculation ran rife about the marriage, including that he was caught for “khalwat” (close proximity).
“I just want to avoid sensationalism. It’s not an issue as I still have two more quotas (to fill),” he joked.
Sanusi married his first wife, Jusmalailani Jusoh, in 1999. They have five children.
