PETALING JAYA:
Parts of the New Pantai Expressway (NPE) and Sungai Besi Expressway (Besraya) will be temporarily closed on Sunday for a marathon.

The closures, affecting 31 selected areas on the NPE and 20 on the Besraya, will start at 12.01am. The highways will be fully reopened by 11am.

For the NPE, the closure will start from Km1.8 from the Kewajipan roundabout in Subang Jaya to Km11 towards Bangsar. Both sides of the highway will be closed.

The closure of Besraya will begin from the Kuchai Lama direct overpass to Jalan Pandan 1 at Km21.9, heading towards the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2), affecting both directions.

“Preparations are under way by NPE and Besraya, together with the police, to alleviate traffic congestion, as motorists will be diverted to alternative routes.

“During the run, the NPE and Besraya traffic teams, with the police, will patrol these areas to ensure the safety of runners,” IJM Corporation Bhd said in a statement.

CEO for NPE and Besraya Wan Salwani Wan Yusoff said the highways had obtained approval from the works ministry and Malaysian Highway Authority for the closure.

The run, held in collaboration with IJM and Allianz Malaysia Bhd, will start and end near the Sunway Pyramid shopping mall.
