PETALING JAYA:
Johor Perikatan Nasional has submitted six names for consideration by the central leadership to contest the coming Mahkota by-election in Johor.

Johor PN deputy chairman Abdullah Husin said that the six candidates include three from PAS and three from Bersatu.

Abdullah said that the six candidates are local residents of Mahkota and have diverse backgrounds.

“We have a variety of candidates. They are young people, professionals. Once the candidate is chosen, we will all work together to support him or her.”

For Barisan Nasional, Kluang Umno Youth chief Syed Hussein Syed Abdullah is among those rumoured to be considered as the unity government’s candidate.

Two other candidates being mentioned for BN are Kluang Wanita Umno deputy chief Zainani Jamaluddin and Kluang Umno chief Jais Sarday, who held the seat for two terms.

The Sept 28 by-election was called following the death of assemblyman Sharifah Azizah Syed Zain of Umno on Aug 2.
