PETALING JAYA:
Two police officers who were seriously injured after being buried by a landslide during a bomb disposal operation at Taman Sri Lambak in Kluang, Johor, yesterday are in a stable condition.

Kluang police chief Bahrin Noh said the two officers, who were earlier treated in the intensive care unit of Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital, have been transferred to a normal ward.

Abdul Halim, 39, was reported to have fractured his hip bone and three left ribs, and Faruuqi Shamsary, 34, fractured his left femur and a left rib, Bernama reported.

“In the incident at 2.20pm, the two officers were on an assignment to dispose of a 1952 500lb aerial bomb, which was found by the public at the scene of the incident.

“However, when they were disposing of the bomb, a landslide occurred, causing them to be buried and injured,” he said in a statement.

He said the disposal of the bomb will be carried out in the near future.
