Sarawak pips FT to most gold medals at 21st Sukma

This is Sarawak’s fourth time as the overall Sukma champion.

PETALING JAYA:
Sarawak has narrowly beaten the Federal Territories in winning the most gold medals at the 21st Malaysia Games (Sukma), which comes to a close tonight.

Its contingent managed to smash five national records and surpass its target of 70 gold medals.

The final medal tally puts Sarawak at 76 gold, 54 silver and 68 bronze medals. The Bornean state was just ahead of the Federal Territories, which managed to garner 75 gold, 66 silver and 72 bronze medals.

Selangor placed third after winning 55 gold, 64 silver and 58 bronze medals.

This is Sarawak’s fourth time as the overall Sukma champion. It topped the medal table in the 1990, 1992 and 1994 games.
