PETALING JAYA:
Norza Zakaria has officially resigned from his position as president of the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) with immediate effect.

He submitted his resignation at the BAM council meeting today.

According to Bernama, BAM deputy president V Subramaniam will serve as acting president until the annual general meeting at the end of the council’s current term next year, when the election of new office-bearers will take place.

Norza, who has led BAM since 2017, announced last December that he wanted to relinquish his post and had even named investment, trade and industry minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz as his successor.

However, after being persuaded by youth and sports minister Hannah Yeoh, he agreed to stay on until after the Paris Olympic Games.
