Transport minister Loke Siew Fook said the RAC had received four proposals from major developers.
“We have big plans and are currently evaluating proposals that will offer the best returns to RAC. At the same time, we want to make this a catalyst for social development and economic progress in Seremban.
“We hope for integrated development in this area, with a concept that includes more than just shopping centres and residential spaces.
“The proposals include various attractions such as a health centre, hospital and private college,” he told a press conference after launching the Sungai Ujong pedestrian tunnel here.
As a short-term plan, the Seremban MP said, the area would be opened as a night-time food site to attract visitors. It is near an upgraded underground tunnel connecting the Terminal 1 bus station with the railway station.
“We know that development is concentrated in Seremban 2. Old Seremban needs to maintain its identity but it also requires a development boost and a shift in economic activities,” he said.
