Immigration deputy director-general (operations) Jafri Embok Taha said 109 women and 104 men were arrested, including 12 Malaysian men and two Malaysian women.
He said the nightclub provided karaoke rooms at between RM4,000 and RM30,000 each, complete with the services of foreign women.
“We raided the entertainment centre at the 21-storey building following complaints from the public, who claimed there were suspected illegal activities at the premises,” he told reporters shortly after the operation ended.
It is understood that the club only offered online bookings to customers and did not allow walk-ins.
Of the 213 foreigners arrested, 186 were Chinese nationals. The rest were from Cambodia, Hong Kong, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sierra Leone, Myanmar, Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia, Antigua and Barbuda, and Saint Kitts and Nevis.
The offences committed included misuse of visit passes and not having valid travel documents.
“The owners of the premises will also be subject to action because they are suspected of harbouring and employing immigrants under Section 55B of the Immigration Act 1959/63,” Jafri said.
