PETALING JAYA:
Former Umno Youth leader Wan Azri Wan Deris, whose alter ego is believed to be Papagomo, has yet to send a letter of representation to the Attorney-General’s Chambers to drop his sedition charge for allegedly inciting hatred against the king.

His lawyer, Rafique Rashid Ali, told the Kuala Lumpur sessions court they had not had time to prepare the letter of representation and that it would be submitted to the AGC soon.

Deputy public prosecutor Wan Ahmad Hijrah Wan Abdullah said the prosecution was supposed to inform the court of its decision on Wan Azri’s representation letter today, but that it still had not received it, Bernama reported.

Rafique asked the court to set Oct 18 for the next case mention and for the prosecution to give its decision on Wan Azri’s letter of representation.

Judge Siti Aminah Ghazali fixed Oct 18 for mention.

In May, Wan Azri claimed trial to posting seditious content against the king on X. He was charged with committing the offence at a condominium unit in Bukit Bintang at noon on April 29.

He was charged under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948, which carries a maximum fine of RM5,000, imprisonment of up to three years, or both, upon conviction.
