State opposition leader Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, representing the PN assemblymen, also called for a fair investigation into the allegations surrounding Muhyiddin’s speech.
Muhyiddin had courted controversy when he questioned why he was not invited by the former Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, to become the prime minister after the 2022 general election.
The PN chairman said he had obtained a majority and had the backing of enough MPs to form the government.
“We have full confidence in the police to carry out their duties, and all parties should refrain from creating unnecessary polemics and comply with the royal decree,” Tuan Ibrahim said in a statement today.
He also affirmed the PN assemblymen’s unwavering loyalty to Sultan Abdullah; the Tengku Ampuan Pahang, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah; and the Pahang crown prince.
“They (the Pahang royal family) serve as the protectors under whom we all take refuge,” he added.
Yesterday, Muhyiddin defended his remarks, which are now the subject of a police investigation, saying they were factual, not meant to incite the public, and not intended to insult the monarchy.
However, his remarks led to a number of police reports lodged against him.
Muhyiddin had been scheduled to have his statement recorded by the police today. However, it will now be taken tomorrow because of his lawyer’s absence.
