SEREMBAN:
The Negeri Sembilan education department is investigating a religious teacher in the state who allegedly issued a statement belittling the Orang Asli community on social media yesterday following Saturday’s Nenggiri by-election.

Negeri Sembilan education department acting director Putra Hashim said the teacher is being monitored and a report will be made by the planning and administration sector from the department’s district education office.

“Further investigations will also be carried out based on Sub-Regulation 19(1)(a), Civil Service Regulations (Conduct and Discipline) 1993 [P.U.(A) 395/1993].

“Under this rule, civil servants cannot verbally, in written form or in any other way make statements that can negatively affect any government policy, plan or decision on any issue,” Putra said in a statement here today.

He also said no civil servant under the education ministry can make or share any statement that can negatively impact government policies. Civil servants also cannot share unverified information, and slanderous or lewd materials.

The department will not compromise with any teacher breaching regulations, Putra added.
