PETALING JAYA:
The body of a 10-year-old girl reported missing on Friday was found in a swampy area near Pos Kuala Mu in Sungai Siput, Perak, yesterday.

Nuraina Humaira Rosli, a Year 4 pupil at SK Pos Kuala Mu, was last seen playing around Kampung Bersah before she went missing.

Sungai Siput police chief Khaizam Ahmad Shahabudin said police received a missing person’s report at about 1.20am yesterday.

A search operation, involving the K9 unit, several agencies and local residents, was launched.

He said the search was conducted within a 2km radius before the body was found at about 4.20pm, Berita Harian reported.

“The victim was found lying in a swampy area about 50m to 100m from the last house in the village,” he said.

The body was sent to Sungai Siput Hospital for an autopsy.

Khaizam said an initial investigation showed that there were no signs of injuries or attack by a wild animal, and the case has been classified as sudden death.
