
He said his ministry has received the report and the recommendations on the minimum wage from the National Wages Consultative Council, Bernama reported.
Sim also said the human resources ministry has distributed the Cabinet paper to relevant ministries for their feedback.
“We will present the paper for consideration and a decision at the Cabinet level,” he told a press conference after the 27th convocation ceremony for trainees from human resources department training institutes in Putrajaya today.
“The presentation is expected to take place next month.”
Previously, Sim said the government would review the minimum wage, last adjusted in May 2022, which saw an increase from RM1,200 to RM1,500.
Yesterday, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim called on private sector companies, particularly those reporting high profits, to review their wage structures to provide fairer compensation to employees.
Anwar said wage reforms in the public sector are meant to encourage private companies to raise salaries, helping to alleviate the burden of living costs.
