Trafficked boy rescued in immigration raid on Shah Alam restaurants

Fourteen foreigners believed to be human trafficking victims were also detained on suspicion of violating the Immigration Act.

PETALING JAYA:
An underage foreign national was rescued by immigration officers in a raid on two restaurants in Shah Alam, Selangor in an anti-human trafficking operation yesterday.

The boy is suspected to have been exploited for forced labour, Bernama reported.

Immigration officers also detained 14 foreign nationals on suspicion of working without valid passes, who are also believed to be human trafficking victims.

Two Malaysians who had employed the foreigners have been arrested, said immigration deputy director-general Jafri Embok Taha.
