PETALING JAYA: Kedah menteri besar Sanusi Nor’s mother died at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB) in Alor Setar this morning.
Sanusi’s press secretary, Muhamad Mat Yakim, confirmed Meriam Ahmad’s death with Bernama.
Earlier, it was reported that Meriam, 74, had been receiving treatment at HSB’s intensive care unit since Monday after suffering a heart attack.
The funeral prayers and burial are expected to be held in Sik this afternoon.
In a Facebook post, PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man expressed his condolences to Sanusi.
“The sadness and emotional pain of losing a mother is indescribable,” he said.
