Suspect linked to fire that killed 3 in Pagoh remanded for 7 days

A couple and their granddaughter died when their house caught fire at Kampung Paya Redan last Friday.

The main suspect in an incident which saw an elderly couple and their granddaughter die in a house fire at Kampung Paya Redan in Pagoh last Friday has been remanded for seven days beginning today.

A remand order was issued by magistrate Fatin Dalilah Khalid for the 48-year-old suspect, who was brought to the Muar court complex this morning, Bernama reported.

The suspect was reported to have been arrested by police at about 1am in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur.

A manhunt was launched after the deaths of Nor Yassin, 82, his wife, Ara Hamid, 76, and their granddaughter, Noradriana Nor Hasyim, 11.

Another victim, Norazima Radhi, 14, sustained injuries and is receiving treatment at Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital here.

The case had been reclassified to murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code after incriminating evidence was reportedly found during post-mortems conducted.
