Police have arrested a man in connection with the stabbing of two women in a surau toilet near a religious school in Kelana Jaya here last Friday.

Petaling Jaya police chief Shahrulnizam Ja’afar said the suspect, aged 46, was arrested at a friend’s house in Kajang at 1.30am today, Bernama reported.

He said police will apply for a remand order at the Petaling Jaya court complex this morning.

In the incident, which occurred at 1.30pm at Surau Al-Ehsaniah Ahmadiah, a 26-year-old saleswoman suffered head and stomach injuries, while a 52-year-old headteacher suffered injuries to her left arm and hand when they were attacked by a man with a knife.

The report did not reveal the motive for the attack but said police have recorded statements from seven witnesses to assist in the investigation under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder.
