KUALA TERENGGANU:
Secretaries-general of all ministries have been instructed to submit new or amendment bills to the Dewan Rakyat at least 14 days in advance.

Speaker Johari Abdul said the early submission would give MPs more time to review and study the bills before they are debated.

He added that this would help save time during debates, which often get prolonged and lead to dissatisfaction among the MPs.

“I have called all chief secretaries and asked for their cooperation. If there are new bills to be introduced in the Dewan Rakyat or amendments to existing laws, they should preferably arrive well in advance,” he told a press conference after visiting the Terengganu state legislative assembly here.

“I am setting 14 days so that we can distribute them (the bills) to MPs. They will then have time to read and study the bills.”
