PETALING JAYA:
Rain induced by cloud seeding has raised the water level at the Bukit Merah dam in Bagan Serai to 33% after it had fallen to 12% of total capacity a week before.

Executive councillor Nizar Jamaluddin said the cloud seeding was carried out on July 29-31. “After the operation, (the water level) has increased to 33% in less than a week. I hope this improvement continues,” he said in Kuala Kangsar.

He thanked the National Disaster Management Agency and others involved in the operation.

The dam is located in the Kerian and Larut Matang Selama districts. Nizar said water supply for agricultural use is likely to be restored once the water level reaches 40% of total capacity, expected within the next two to three weeks.
