PETALING JAYA:
The 14-year-old girl arrested on Thursday for trespassing and impersonating a member of the staff at Sultan Idris Shah Hospital in Serdang has been referred to the Sepang welfare authorities for further action.

Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan said the referral was made as the girl is a minor.

“The teenager was referred to the Sepang welfare department yesterday,” he told Bernama.

Yesterday, Hussein said the teen would be referred to a specialist hospital for psychiatric evaluation.

He said initial investigations suggested the girl’s actions were likely due to a disturbed state of mind.

“There is no motive established and she will be referred to a specialist hospital for psychiatric evaluation.”

The girl was detained at the hospital lobby on suspicion of posing as a medical officer and after volunteering to assist in a surgery.

Sepang police chief Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof had said the teenager, who was remanded for two days, was released on police bail last night.

He said the investigation was ongoing, with the case file set to be submitted to the deputy public prosecutor for further review.
