PETALING JAYA:
The first-ever solid-state hydrogen reactor for sustainable electricity generation in a rural area will be built in Tanjung Malim this year.

Science, technology and innovation minister Chang Lih Kang said hydrogen energy project is targeted under the Hydrogen Economy and Technology Roadmap (HETR), which is currently in the first phase and will continue until 2050, Bernama reported.

“Under the first phase, we will showcase what is hydrogen technology.

“That’s why we have various programmes such as hydrogen vehicles to show the world and prove to Malaysians that the technology is ready and available.

“Next, we will build a mobile hydrogen refuelling station, which is expected to be completed early next year as part of this HETR plan,” he said at the Perak Kita Madani Carnival programme in Tanjung Malim.

Chang, who is Tanjung Malim MP, said the use of hydrogen was among five aspects the ministry was concentrating on, the rest being artificial intelligence, food safety technology, space and ecosystem startups.

On the Automotive High Technology Valley (AHTV) project, Chang said this would help in further developing Tanjung Malim.

“This will have a big impact on housing, food and beverage, services and other sectors here,” he said.
