Zamri Zahari said in a Facebook post this morning that his remark was excessive, unnecessary and had offended various parties.

“I confess that it happened because I got carried away amid the atmosphere of the election campaign. Therefore, with a sincere heart, I withdraw my remark,” said Zamri, who is believed to be the head of the PAS Bachok division’s ulama wing.
“As a PAS and Perikatan Nasional activist and supporter, I want to stress that I am committed to political ideals that are democratic, lawful, inclusive, fair, honourable and that rejects enmity, slander and going over the top,” he said in his post.
Zamri is believed to be the head of the PAS Bachok division’s ulama wing.
His original post was not viewable to all users. However, it was reposted by others, including Melaka PAS on its Facebook page.
A PAS source confirmed to FMT that the post is authentic.
Earlier today, Gua Musang DAP’s youth wing lodged a police report against the remark, and called for an investigation into the criminal offence of causing disharmony, division, or enmity based on religion.
Zamri was reportedly suspended from taking part in the by-election campaign for three days, while PAS central committee member Annuar Musa said there was no need for the party to apologise to DAP over the remark.
