PETALING JAYA:
National winger Faisal Halim played his first football match today, three months since the May 5 acid attack which left him with fourth-degree burns.

He was brought on as a substitute in the 86th minute of Selangor FC’s Super League match with Kelantan United at the MBPJ Stadium today.

Selangor won the mach 2-0.

The 26-year-old, wearing a mask to protect the wounds on his face, returned to the club’s team sheet last Saturday.

He warmed up with the rest of the team before Selangor’s match against Terengganu, drawing cheers and applause from the thousands of spectators at the MBPJ Stadium.

Faisal was discharged from hospital on May 25 after undergoing four surgeries to treat his burns. He said he had at one point considered hanging up his boots as he feared for his safety.
