KUALA LUMPUR:
Two college students were killed when a Mercedes-Benz coming from the opposite direction crashed into their four-wheel-drive pickup in Jalan Cheras early this morning.

Kuala Lumpur traffic police chief Zamzuri Isa said checks revealed that the 23-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz was under the influence of alcohol. He has been detained for investigation.

The crash took place at about 6.40am. The Mercedes is believed to have skidded before crashing into the victims’ Ford Ranger and five other vehicles.

“As a result of the crash, two passengers in the Ford, both aged 22, died from severe injuries, while their friend, the driver of the vehicle, sustained only minor injuries,” he said in a statement today.

The bodies of the two victims have been sent for an autopsy.

Zamzuri urged those with information about the incident to come forward.
