PETALING JAYA:
Despite a strong start to the event, national diver Nur Dhabitah Sabri was let down by two poor dives to finish last in the women’s individual 3m springboard final at the Paris Olympics today.

The 25-year-old Dhabitah finished with 244.80 points after five dives. China’s Chen Yiwen led the competition from start to finish, taking the gold medal with 376 points, with Australia’s Maddison Keeney claiming silver on 343.10 points and China’s Chang Yani the bronze with 318.75 points.

Dhabitah opened with a 63-point performance in her first dive, an inward 2½ somersault. She followed up with a 60-point display in her second dive, a forward 2½ somersault 1 twist, to surge to third in the field of 12 divers.

However, her third dive (back 2½ somersault) earned only 37.50 points, dropping her to 11th in the standings, and the 28.50 points for her fourth dive (reverse 2½ somersault) saw her sink to 12th, despite a 55.80-point performance in her final dive (forward 3½ somersault).

Dhabitah was making her third appearance at the Olympics, after competing in Tokyo in 2020 and Rio de Janeiro in 2016.

Earlier today, national diver Bertrand Rhodict Lises’s Olympics debut ended in disappointment when he finished 25th out of 26 participants in the preliminary round of the men’s 10m platform event.

The 19-year-old scored a total of 313.70 points and was unable to advance to the next round as one of the top 18 finishers.
