Babysitter’s son charged with sexually assaulting 10-month-old

The 20-year-old student denies the charge and the judge adjourns the case until Sept 24.

A 20-year-old student has pleaded not guilty to sexually assaulting a 10-month-old girl in a house in Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur, last month.
KUALA LUMPUR:
A 20-year-old student pleaded not guilty in the sessions court here today to sexually assaulting a 10-month-old girl whom his mother was babysitting.

He was charged with committing the offence at a house on Jalan Hamzah, Kampung Baru, Dang Wangi, here at 10am on July 31.

The charge, under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, provides for a maximum prison term of 20 years and whipping upon conviction.

Judge Kafli Che Ali set bail at RM6,000 and fixed Sept 24 for next case mention.

He ordered the defendant to surrender his passport, report to the nearest police station once a month and not to contact any of the witnesses.

Deputy public prosecutor Shakira Aliana Alias appeared for the prosecution while Azi Azlin Zulkifli appeared for the defendant.
