Kota Raja Umno must discuss request for state seat with PH, says Zahid

The Umno president supports division chief Tengku Zafrul Aziz’s request for one seat in the constituency.

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the matter would have to be discussed with the party’s allies in Pakatan Harapan.
KLANG:
Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has supported a proposal by Kota Raja division chief Tengku Zafrul Aziz to allocate one of the four seats in the area to the party in the 16th general election.

Zahid said the matter would, however, have to be discussed with their allies in Pakatan Harapan, who are in the Selangor administration.

“We are determined (to work based on) this understanding. We hope that our allies will see eye to eye with us.

“Surely they can give us one of the four available seats,” he said while officiating the Kota Raja Umno division meeting at the Premiere Hotel in Klang today.

In his speech earlier, Tengku Zafrul said Umno should be allowed to contest the Sentosa, Sungai Kandis, or Kota Kemuning state seats, or even the Kota Raja parliamentary seat, at the next general election.

“This is Kota Raja Umno’s wish, based on the spirit of unity with our friends in PH. Give Kota Raja Umno a chance to contest one of the seats,” he said.

Tengku Zafrul gave his assurance that the division would do its best if it was given the seat, and would help ensure victories for the surrounding seats.
