GUA MUSANG:
Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has confirmed receiving membership applications from nearly 500 Bersatu members in the Nenggiri state constituency and welcomed their entry to the party.

They include Che Ariffin Hussin, the former deputy chief of Bersatu’s Gua Musang division.

Che Ariffin said all 12 Bersatu branches in Nenggiri were now inactive following the exodus of 480 members.

He explained that the group decided to join Umno as they had lost confidence in Bersatu’s leadership and were not pleased with the party’s cooperation with PAS in Perikatan Nasional.

The Bersatu exodus was announced after candidates for Barisan Nasional and Perikatan Nasional filed their papers to contest the by-election for the Nenggiri state assembly seat on Aug 17.

The BN candidate is Gua Musang Umno Youth chief Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani, while PN named Rizwadi Ismail, who recently joined Bersatu from PAS.
