Taman Desa Residents Association (TDRA) chairman Wong Chan Choy told FMT the residents were disappointed with the meeting today.
“We are not satisfied as we can’t seem to get any answers from them. All they said was ‘we will look into it’.
“No solution was given and we are extremely sad about the situation,” he said after attending the meeting.
The development involves the building of more than 1,600 serviced apartments under the name M Aspira on 1.5ha under the first phase.
The second phase will involve constructing 800 affordable homes under the name Residensi Madani on the remaining 1ha.
Wong said there should be a two-way communication between the authorities and residents on the development.
According to him, the next step for the residents would be to raise the matter at an upcoming town hall meeting with Seputeh MP Teresa Kok.
“After that, we hope to have a meeting with the mayor,” he added.
On July 15, Kok said she was disappointed by DBKL’s decision to sell the land to Mah Sing Group Bhd for the proposed development.
She said she was neither informed nor consulted by the government regarding the approval of the sale, adding that she only became aware of the matter after Mah Sing announced the RM108 million deal the previous week.
According to her, the government had initially intended to turn the open space into a park, but this plan had now been cancelled and replaced with rapid development.
Mah Sing said the proposed project would have an estimated gross development value of RM1.01 billion.
Federal territories minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa later said the sale of the land was done through an open tender.
The sale of the land would ensure the construction of the 800 affordable housing units at the developer’s own cost, she added.
