PETALING JAYA:
Penang governor Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak has awarded medals to eight council employees working in dirty, dangerous, and difficult (3D) jobs in conjunction with his 75th birthday celebration.

The workers – four each from Penang island city council (MBPP) and Seberang Perai city council (MBSP) – were awarded the Pingat Bakti Setia and Pingat Jasa Masyarakat respectively today.

Penang chief minister Chow Kon Yeow said the workers had each put in at least a decade of service.

The medal recipients from MBPP were Adnan Yusoff, Peritam Singh Gurbaksh Singh and V Kalimuthu, all aged 38; as well as Wan Razak Wan Chik, 59.

The recipients from MBSP were Amran Sahriff, 45; Shauqi Fadzail, 35, CS Dauandaran, 40, and Hamid Majid, 47.

In congratulating them, Chow said the awards were a mark of appreciation and recognition for their hard work in ensuring Penang is always kept clean and green.

“Without the efforts and sacrifices of these workers, Penangites will not have been able to live in such a clean and safe environment,” he said in a statement.
