PETALING JAYA:
National badminton women’s singles player Goh Jin Wei’s campaign at the 2024 Paris Olympics badminton competition ended today after she was knocked out by South Korea’s Kim Ga Eun in her final Group H match.

The 24-year-old, ranked 32nd in the world, went down 17-21, 22-20, 21-23 in 1 hour and 5 minutes at the Porte De La Chapelle Arena in Paris.

The former junior world champion, however, put up a strong fight in the second and third games, but ultimately succumbed towards the end.

Goh has now lost four out of five matches she has played against the South Korean shuttler.

The draw for the knockout stage is expected to be done after all the final group games are completed later tonight.

Goh beat two-time African Games champion Johanita Scholtz 23-21, 21-11 on Monday.

She won the 2015 and 2018 BWF World Junior Championships and the girls’ singles title at the 2018 Youth Olympics. At the senior level, she won the women’s singles title at the 2017 SEA Games.
