In a Bernama report, Zahid, who is also the rural and regional development minister, said the TVET institute would provide training and job opportunities to youth who went to school and grew up in the area.
Zahid said TVET courses had garnered significant attention across various industries, adding that more than 98% of TVET graduates receive job offers immediately after graduating.
“All of them are being ‘booked’ by the industry as TVET courses are closely aligned with employers’ requirements nationwide,” he said when launching the development plan for the rural development centre in Gua Musang.
Voters will head to the polls on Aug 17 for the Nenggiri by-election. The state seat, which is within the Gua Musang district, has consistently been held by Umno since it was first contested in 2004.
However, the party lost the seat for the first time in the Kelantan state elections last August to Perikatan Nasional (PN).
BN, representing the unity alliance, has named Kelantan Umno Youth chief Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani as its candidate for the Aug 17 by-election while PN will field former navy officer Rizwadi Ismail.
Nominations will be held on Aug 3.
