PETALING JAYA:
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission in Sabah has detained a company owner suspected of submitting forged documents to win tenders for repair and maintenance work on two schools in Tawau four years ago.

The man, in his 60s, is believed to have submitted the documents to secure contracts worth about RM200,000.

Bernama quoted a source as saying the suspect was arrested at about 9am today when he was summoned to provide a statement at the MACC office in Tawau.

“An initial investigation found that the suspect committed the offence in 2020. He is suspected of using fake bank statements to win tenders for the repair and maintenance work on the two schools under the Economic Stimulus Package programme,” the source said.

Sabah MACC director S Karunanithy confirmed the arrest and said the case is being investigated under Section 471 of the Penal Code for using forged documents.

Karunanithy said the suspect will be charged at the Tawau sessions court tomorrow.
