
PETALING JAYA: No Malaysians were involved or affected by the Saurya Airlines flight that crashed at Kathmandu International Airport earlier today, the foreign ministry said.
In a statement, Wisma Putra said latest reports from the Malaysian embassy in Kathmandu indicated that no Malaysians were aboard the flight.
“We extend our condolences to the families of those affected by the crash. We are monitoring for any further updates on the crash,” it said in a statement.
Reuters reported that the crash killed 18 people – 17 Nepali and one Yemeni. According to eyewitness reports, the Bombardier CRJ-200 aircraft caught fire while taking off from the capital Kathmandu earlier today.
